In 2002, while setting up a highway work zone on I-94 in Detroit, I was struck by a motorist going over 80 mph. The crash resulted in the loss of both my legs below the knee—and the life of a colleague.
Like many amputees, I use an elevated vacuum prosthesis. But the suspension sleeves that keep it secure wear out quickly and cost around $200 each. After struggling with repeated sleeve failures, I created SleevSaver, a simple repair solution that extends sleeve life up to five times and saves users thousands.
Launched in 2019, SleevSaver is now available nationwide through major O&P suppliers — and trusted by amputees everywhere.
